Inside the Room: PG County's 40th Annual Women's History Month Luncheon

PG County's 40th Annual Women's History Month Luncheon Was the Event of the Season!

Over 1,500 guests. A standing ovation. An exclusive moment with Candiace Dillard. RXNCO was there — and we have the receipts.

Some events you cover. Some events you experience. Prince George's County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy's 40th Annual Women's History Month Luncheon at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center was undeniably the latter.

The line at the door said everything. Entry was tight, the crowd was dressed, and the energy outside the Potomac Ballroom before doors even opened had the unmistakable charge of an event people had been waiting for. This was not just a luncheon. This was a statement.

More than 1,500 guests filled the room — women trailblazers, elected officials, entrepreneurs, and community leaders from across the DMV, all gathered to celebrate four decades of honoring women

who shape Prince George's County and beyond.

The flowers were everywhere and intentional — abundant, architectural centerpieces that made every table feel like a feature moment. Whoever styled this event understood that the details are the message.

The Fashion Was Its Own Story

From the moment guests arrived, it was clear this crowd had dressed for the occasion. The fashion on the floor ranged from elegant to editorial — sharp suits, floor-length gowns, statement color, and accessories that meant business.

Media personality Ylawnda Peebles was among the VIP guests whose presence added star power to an already luminous room. Every corner offered a frame worth capturing.

The Music Brought the House Down

One of the most unexpected and genuinely electrifying moments of the afternoon came from the officer band — a military ensemble that pivoted into local soul and go-go music with a smoothness that stopped conversations mid-sentence. Professional, precise, and deeply rooted in DMV culture, the band commanded the room in a way that felt both surprising and completely right. People danced. People cheered. It was the kind of live music moment that reminds you why go-go is not just a genre — it is a language spoken

specifically by this community.

Jade Jacobs and a Moment Nobody Will Forget

Rising vocalist Jade Jacobs (left) performed Lift Every Voice and Sing and delivered one of those rare performances that shifts the temperature of a room. The applause that followed was not polite — it was earned. A young artist, a landmark song, a room full of the DMV's most accomplished women. RXNCO captured it on camera and we are still not over it.

Proclamation and Purpose

Among the honorees recognized during the program was Melinda Gooch, whose proclamation moment we captured on camera.

These recognition moments — women being seen and celebrated in front of their community — are exactly what this luncheon has always been built to do, and forty years in, it still does it with grace.

The Candiace Moment

Real Housewives of Potomac star and recording artist Candiace Dillard was in the building — and RXNCO cameras luckily caught her. In front of the stunning oversized event backdrop, she gave us an exclusive. She was radiant, she was gracious, and she was clearly having the time of her life.

Why This Event Matters

Forty years is not an accident. This luncheon has spent four decades celebrating the dynamic accomplishments of women who serve in and partner with government to influence and impact their communities. Under County Executive Braveboy's leadership it has grown into one of the signature cultural and political events on the DMV calendar — the kind of room where relationships are built, women are honored, and the community gets to see itself reflected at its best.

RXNCO Studios was proud to be there with a camera worthy of the moment.
